A community built on the trails

Making trail running more accessible, welcoming and enjoyable - for everyone

How it all started

Embrace Ultra started with a simple idea — to create trail and ultra events that felt different.

More welcoming. More community-driven. More about the experience than just the result.

From first-time ultra runners to experienced athletes, our events are designed to give everyone the same opportunity to take on a challenge and discover what they’re capable of.

Because for us, running isn’t just about distance — it’s about the journey.

How our community grew

Through our events & Runaround Kent community runs, something started to happen.

What began as a simple monthly run slowly turned into something people genuinely looked forward to — not just for the routes, but for the people.

We started seeing the same faces coming back each month. People chatting before the run, sticking around afterwards, getting to know each other.

Over time, those familiar faces turned into friendships.

People who first met at the Runaround Kent now run together outside of it, travel to races together and support each other through training and big goals.

The Runaround Kent became more than just a run. It became a place people felt part of something.

And it made one thing clear: People didn’t just want events. They wanted something in between — somewhere to keep showing up, running together, and staying connected.

Where the trail run club fits in

The Embrace Trail Run Club grew naturally from all of this.

We realised people didn’t just want something once a month or on race day — they wanted something more regular.

A way to stay connected, keep showing up and feel supported in their running week to week.

The club is about creating that.

An accessible and inclusive support network for runners — whatever their starting point, whatever their goals.

Some people come to run socially. Others are building towards races or bigger challenges. Both are equally part of it.

It’s not about being the fastest or the most experienced. It’s about having somewhere to turn up, feel welcome, and keep moving forward — at your own pace.

What we believe

  • Trail running should be accessible to anyone

  • Community matters more than pace

  • Confidence is built over time

  • Everyone deserves to feel like they belong on the trails.

  • The most fun is had when shared with like-minded people.

These are the things that shape every run, every session and every part of the community we’re building.

Meet the founders

We’re Phil and Jen, founders of Embrace Ultra.

What started as a shared love of running and the Kent trails has grown into something far bigger than we ever expected — a community of people supporting each other on and off the trails.

From the beginning, we’ve believed that trail running should be something anyone can be part of.

Not just those chasing times or distances, but anyone who wants to get outside, move and feel better for it.

That belief has shaped everything we’ve built.

From our events, to the Runaround Kent community run and now the Trail Run Club — the aim has always been the same:

To create something that feels welcoming, supportive, and genuinely enjoyable to be part of.

We care deeply about making trail running more accessible. We care about building a community where people feel comfortable showing up, whatever their experience.

And we care about creating something that brings a bit more happiness into people’s lives — whether that’s through a good run, a conversation on the trails, or the friendships that come from it.

We’re proud of what’s been built so far, but more than anything, we’re excited about what it’s becoming.
